Uganda is a tourism destination worth a place on your travel list. It is Africa’s and certainly a global prime travel destination with many tourist attractions. It straddles the equator, is home to 10 national parks with wildlife including the sought-after Mountain Gorillas.
The crested crane is Uganda’s national symbol. 1, 080 bird species call it home and so for the Source of River Nile which connects to the Mediterranean Sea.
It has four mountains, 165 lakes including Lake Victoria, waterfalls, a number of islands, eight major rivers, tropical dense forests, sprawling landscape, wildlife, fauna and flora, warm and friendly people with unique cultures, beautiful weather, culinary adventures, bustling nightlife and more.
Kampala is Uganda’s capital city and the Central Business District (CBD). It has an active nightlife with clubs, bars, restaurants, culinary options, street foods, rich heritage and tourism attractions.
Entebbe is Uganda’s main entry town. It is where Entebbe International Airport is located, conjoined by Lake Victoria, formerly known as Nalubaale, Africa’s largest freshwater body and world’s biggest tropical lake.
Lonely Planet, one of the biggest and oldest guidebooks for travellers, chose Uganda as a favourite and top world destination to visit in 2012. It took them a century to verify Sir Winston Churchill’s fascination that led him to christen Uganda the Pearl of Africa.
Its motto is ‘For God and my country’. It is a landlocked country, occupying 236, 041 square kilometres. English is it national language. The Uganda shilling is the official currency. It’s under the Greenwich Mean Time + 3 hours.
