What is the name of your company?
DroneNerds Africa.
What are your top travel destination in Uganda and beyond, and why?
I can say Uganda is entirely beautiful. As such, I won’t say I have a top travel destination. Every region is magical in its own way. I have had an opportunity to travel to almost every region in Uganda and I testify that there’s a lot to experience, Kidepo with a beautiful sunset and sunrise, Ngamba island is one of its kind, and the mighty Murchison falls are among my top destinations, and oh, plus Kibaale Forest.
What place has given you the best travel shots?
The Murchison Falls
Why did it stand out?
Well I got enough time to shoot a number of wild animals.
What are some of the animals you saw?
Buffalos, giraffes, elephants, crocodiles, hippos among others
What about the lodges you’ve stayed in, which ones have left a mark on you?
I’ve stayed in Para Safari Lodge and Cloud Mountain Gorilla Lodge in Bwindi.
What did you like about each of these facilities?
Well, at Para Safari Lodge I had gone to shoot an Australian wedding. The couple opted to have a wedding in the jungle with animals. They elephants smelt alcohol and gathered around.
The pictures were really nice. Just imagine exchanging vows with an elephant in the background. At Clouds, it was a personal surprise. We were given luxury rooms, got briefed about every detail and they left out one thing. Perhaps, they wanted to surprise us.
They put a hot tube under the blanket for our warmth to keep the cold away. Bwindi is a cold place. When my turn to enter the bed reached, I got in and felt something warm, since we were in the forest, I automatically thought it was a big snake.
I jumped out of the bed and broke a water glass they had provided me on the bedside table. I called the reception but they all laughed at me. I was told it is their surprise to first-time visitors.
Which places are on your bucket list?
Not in Uganda, at least I have been almost everywhere. I dream of going to one of the South American countries. I’d like to travel to Chile, Peru, Argentina…
Why there?
South America has the dramatic, enchanting and geographically diverse landscapes on the planet and because most of my photos I take are landscapes I think it’s an ideal location for me to travel.
Is there something you’d like to see done different in the tourism sector?
Tourism stakeholders need to boost local tourism.
